Cengiz Güdücü is a brand rooted in the world of art and fashion. The brand’s vision is to explore and merge the two worlds into seasonal collections that reflect the techniques and craftsmanship of both fields. The collections are split into three focus points: clothing, art pieces, and objects.

 

Designer and Multi-artist Cengiz Güdücü established his namesake brand from a basement in Copenhagen in 2022, after graduating from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art, School of Design in 2021. Born and raised in the Sydhavn neighborhood of Copenhagen, Designer and Multi-Artist Cengiz Güdücü draw inspiration from his adolescent surroundings and his Kurdish heritage.

 

The brand’s overall universe and aesthetics draw inspiration from the world of rap and hip-hop. The focus lies on baggy oversized silhouettes combined with tight and sleek fits. Typography and prints play an abstract role in the brand’s overall more gloomy and dark universe, which is welded together by the signature color red. 

 

The primary design approach of the brand is to “do with what you have”. This approach stems from the initial way the designer taught himself how to sew and manipulate his parent's old garments into new designs. This approach is the clearest in the made-to-order part of the seasonal collection, where some styles are made from upcycled garments and the rest sewn from deadstock and repurposed fabrics. 

 

The fashion collections consist of two series: ready-to-wear and made-to-order, all designed in-house. The ready-to-wear series is small and curated and is produced in Turkey by a small family-driven atelier. 

 

The made-to-order series is made with deadstock and up-cycled materials and is hand-produced by the Designer himself in Copenhagen. The ideology is built upon prolonging the life circle of materials and garments by re-purposing them into new designs. This aspect aligns with the brand’s ideology of creating garments that are to be considered unique art pieces.
